Some situations require immediate action. A person is in imminent suicide risk if she or he
- tells you they plan to end their life
- cannot guarantee their own safety
- is at risk and under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- tells you they have recently taken an overdose or made some other suicide gesture

During regular office hours, call the University EAP at (573) 882-6701 for crisis services.
Call the MU Police Department at (573) 882-7201 or the Columbia Police Department at (573) 874-7652 or dial 911 for assistance.
Take the person directly to the emergency room at University Hospital (1 Hospital Drive) or Boone County Hospital (1500 East Broadway).
