Some situations require immediate action. A person is in imminent suicide risk if she or he
- tells you they plan to end their life
- cannot guarantee their own safety
- is at risk and under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- tells you they have recently taken an overdose or made some other suicide gesture
During regular office hours, call Counseling Services at (417) 873-7418 or come by the office at Findlay Student Center, Room 106.
Outside normal business hours, students should call 911.
Call the New Directions Employee Assistance Program at (877) 568-9654 to arrange a confidential appointment with an EAP specialist.
Call the Department of Safety & Security at (417) 873-7911. You can also call the Springfield Police Department at (417) 864-1810 or dial 911 for assistance.

Take the person directly to the emergency room at St. John's Hospital at 1235 E Cherokee St or Cox Hospital at 1423 N Jefferson.
